Our commitment
NEDness is committed to making our website accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We want all those in our community to be able to access and engage with our content.
Accessibility standard
We aim to meet Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, the internationally recognised standard for web accessibility. These guidelines help ensure that websites are perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for everyone, including those who rely on assistive technologies such as screen readers, keyboard navigation, or voice recognition software.
What we are doing
NEDness is a new website. We are building accessibility into our design and development from the start, rather than retrofitting it afterwards. As part of this, we are working to ensure that:
- text content is clear and readable, with sufficient colour contrast
- the website can be navigated using a keyboard alone
- images include appropriate alternative text descriptions
- headings and page structure follow a logical order
- links are descriptive and make sense out of context
- our content is compatible with common assistive technologies
- podcast content is accompanied by transcripts where available
Known limitations
As a newly launched and evolving website, there may be areas where we have not yet achieved full conformance with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. We are aware that some content or third-party functionality may not yet fully meet every accessibility requirement. We are committed to identifying, reviewing and resolving accessibility issues on an ongoing basis.
At launch, our known limitations may include:
- embedded third-party tools or content that are outside our direct control
- older downloadable documents or legacy materials that may not yet be fully accessible
- occasional gaps in transcripts or alternative text while new content processes are being embedded
We will update this section as our website develops and as any issues are identified and addressed.

Response time: We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within five working days.
When reporting an accessibility issue, it is helpful to include:
- the web address (URL) of the page where you experienced the problem
- a description of what happened and what you expected to happen
- the browser and device you were using
- any assistive technology you were using (if applicable)
Enforcement
There is currently no specific web accessibility law in Jersey equivalent to the UK Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018. However, we recognise that accessibility is a matter of good practice and inclusion, and we hold ourselves to the WCAG 2.2 standard voluntarily.

Review
We will review this statement and the accessibility of our website at least annually and update it as our website develops.
